KATHMANDU: The Embassy of United States in Kathmandu says it is taking its citizens back from Nepal on Tuesday via a chartered flight.
The chartered flight of Qatar Airways will depart from Kathmandu at around 12 noon on Tuesday (March 31).
The embassy says that the flight en route to Doha will proceed to Dulles International Airport in the Washington, DC area.
“We are working toward being able to provide a second repatriation flight, but that will likely not be confirmed until Tuesday,” the embassy has said.
As for the first flight, the embassy says they will be operating using State Department guidance to prioritize passengers.
Firstly, the embassy will prioritize U.S. citizens at higher risk from the Coronavirus, along with their immediate household family members.
Likewise, U.S. citizen minors will receive the next level of prioritization.
Similarly, adult U.S. citizens in need of medical assistance who do not fall into a higher priority group.
