Chitwan witnesses two COVID-19 deaths, 102 new cases

CHITWAN: A total of 102 new cases of the coronavirus were confirmed in the district on Saturday, with two deaths.

The two people who died were however from outside Chitwan.

Of the 65 confirmed positive in the test carried out in Chitwan medical college, 61 are from the district, according to information officer at Bharatpur hospital Liladhar Poudel.

Likewise, 12 were confirmed positive in tests carried out in Dhulikhel and 29 in Bharatpur hospital. Of the 120 confirmed on Saturday, 18 were from outside the district.

With this, the total tally has reached 627 in the district, with the highest in Bharatpur metropolis at 364.

On Saturday, two people undergoing treatment at Chitwan Medical College died of the coronavirus. So far, 11 people have died of the virus in the district, including four from Chitwan.

A prohibitory order has been enforced in the district after the infection started to rise exponentially.
