NC row: Poudel urges Deuba to refrain from making arbitrary decisions

KATHMANDU: Nepali Congress (NC) senior leader Ram Chandra Paudel today urged party President Sher Bahadur Deuba to refrain from arbitrary decisions in the party.

Poudel today handed over a letter to Deuba urging him to not take any unilateral decisions that would hamper the party decisions.

The faction led by Poudel has accused party President Deuba for making unilateral decisions and forming departments and committees aimed at influencing the upcoming general convention to be held early next year.

Poudel told Deuba to exercise internal democracy inside the party adding that he was not in favor of bickering.

It should be noted that Deuba has already nominated as many as 479 leaders and cadres of various districts above 65 years to the senior politician assembly led by him.

Meanwhile, the faction is also disgruntled with Deuba’s decision to welcome Sunil Bahadur Thapa of Rastriya Prajatantra Party, and giving him the post of the party’s joint general secretary.

Poudel is of the view that such a major decision should be taken by the central committee.

Likewise, he also urged Deuba to ensure transparency in the distribution and renewal of active membership in the districts.

NC leaders, including Dr Ram Sharan Mahat, Dr Minendra Rijal, Arjun Narsingh KC, Chandra Bhandari, among others had accompanied Poudel to meet Deuba.

Likewise, NC vice-presidents Bimalendra Nidhi, Bijay Kumar Gachchhadar, General Secretary Purna Bahadur Khadka, Deputy General Secretary Prakash Sharan Mahat, among others from the Deuba faction were present in the meeting.
