Jeep used in fake gold incident located



KATHMANDU: Police have located a jeep that a gang used for carrying fake gold and weapons.

A police team deployed from Metropolitan Police Range Kathmandu found the jeep parked at an under-construction house in Nakhipot in Lalitpur.

Acting on a tip-off that the ‘gold’ was being smuggled, a team deployed from Metropolitan Police Circle, Durbar Marg had recovered the huge amount of ‘gold’ thrown by a person traveling in the jeep.

Police had found 15 kg of ‘gold’ and two pistols inside a bag left behind by a person who ran away helter-skelter on the vehicle after noticing police.

However, it was later revealed that only 500 grams out of 15 kilograms of gold-like metal was real gold.

Meanwhile, police have arrested three Indian nationals involved in the incident.

The law enforcement agency nabbed Nilesh Sakhiya, Dewan Patel and Vijay Patel from East Nawalparasi.
