671 foreigners deported in 2019: DoI



KATHMANDU: The Department of Immigration (DoI) says Nepal deported as many as 671 foreigners in 2019.

While 578 were expelled on the charge of overstaying, 93 foreigners faced deportation on other charges such as banking offence, sexual abuse, drug smuggling, living without passport and visa, fraud, foreign currency use, and illegal call bypassing.

According to the DoI, as many as 415 Chinese nationals were deported from Nepal followed by 23 Americans and 12 North Koreans.

Likewise, 19 Iranians and 3 Nigerians were deported for possessing fake passports and visas.

Similarly, others include three Sri Lankans, 2 Bangladeshis, one Tajikistani, and one Kazakhstani.
