DHANGADI: Seven local level units in the eastern region of Kailali have joined hands to run a temporary Corona hospital in Tikapur. They have begun preparations towards that end.

Considering the increasing number of Coronavirus infection cases, seven of the 13 local levels in Kailali have formed a partnership with Tikapur hospital to run the temporary hospital. The local level units decided to run a hospital on their own as it was difficult for them to send people confirmed positive to COVID-19 to Dhangadi.

A meeting coordinated by the Tikapur hospital development committee in Janaki rural municipality took the decision to set up a 30-bed temporary Corona hospital in the City Hall of Tikapur. This will be in addition to the 12-bed isolation room set up at the Tikapur hospital, according to Janaki rural municipality Chair Pradeep Kumar Chaudhary.

All the seven local level governments will contribute funds for the temporary hospital. Budget is also being allocated to procure ventilators, Chaudhary said.

Tikapur hospital medical superintendent Dr Jitendra Kandel has been tasked with preparing a plan along with budget requirements for running the temporary hospital.
