KATHMANDU: A meeting of the Parliamentary Hearing Committee is taking place today to hear the proposed candidates for the posts of Chief Election Commissioner and Election Commissioners.
The Committee is hearing the nominations of Man Bahadur Karki for Chief Election Commissioner, and Guru Prasad Wagle of Okhaldhunga and Dr. Rajiv Subba of Kathmandu for Election Commissioners.
The Constitutional Council had earlier recommended Karki for the post of Chief Election Commissioner, while Wagle and Subba were recommended as Election Commissioners.
Under the constitutional provision, the President appoints the Chief Election Commissioner and Election Commissioners after the Parliamentary Hearing Committee completes the hearing process. The committee had earlier invited complaints against the proposed candidates.
