Eight Nepali students in Australia test positive for coronavirus

KATHMANDU: Some eight Nepali students in Australia have tested positive for novel coronavirus, according to the Embassy of Nepal in Canberra.

The embassy informed that four Nepali students in New South Wales, three in Victoria and one in Tasmania have tested positive for novel coronavirus.

According to the embassy, the person living in Tasmania has already recovered.

Posting on its Facebook page, the embassy says: “The Embassy is closely following the situation that has developed here in Australia as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic and has been communicating with the concerned agencies/authorities of Australian Government to address the situation and provide necessary support to the Nepali students, temporary residents and the Nepali communities affected by the COVID-19.”

The embassy further stated that it has been receiving requests from several Nepalis, including visiting parents, students, and temporary visa holders for their repatriation.
