Prachanda rules out poll alliance, claims NCP will emerge largest party

KATHMANDU: Coordinator of the Nepali Communist Party (NCP), Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’, has claimed that his party will emerge as the largest force in the upcoming House of Representatives elections scheduled for March 5.

Addressing a virtual meeting of the party’s central leaders on Thursday, Dahal categorically ruled out any electoral alliance or seat-sharing arrangement with other political parties, including the UML and the Nepali Congress.

“There will be no electoral alliance or coordination with any party, anywhere, in this election,” Dahal told party leaders, dismissing speculation about possible cooperation with rival forces.

His remarks come amid recent discussions between Dahal and CPN-UML Chair KP Sharma Oli, which had fueled rumors of a potential pre-election alliance between the two major communist leaders. Dahal, however, rejected such claims, stating that reports circulating on social media about an alliance with the UML were baseless and misleading.

Dahal further asserted that the NCP would secure more seats than the UML in the upcoming polls, expressing confidence in his party’s growing public support.

He also launched a sharp attack on the UML, describing it as a force that has been “rejected and discredited by the people.” According to Dahal, the current political environment favors the NCP, and the party is well-positioned to lead the next parliament on its own.
