One million rupees insurance cover for health workers

GODAVARI: The Godavari Municipality has decided to provide insurance coverage of one million rupees for the health workers and other employees involved in the fight against COVID-19.

An emergency meeting of the municipality on Saturday took the decision.

Accordingly, the family members of any health worker or staff working for the municipality will get financial assistance of Rs. 1 million if they get infected and die in the line of duty.

The support has been established in order to encourage health workers and employees, and also help minimize the risk, said Mayor Gajendra Maharjan.

Furthermore, free treatment would be provided in case any health worker or staff is infected.

All the health workers in Godavari will also receive Rs. 500 per day as an incentive. The municipality has decided to release a budget of Rs. 200,000 each for every ward to work in the prevention of COVID-19.
