884 cases recorded, Nepal’s COVID-19 caseload reaches 37,340

KATHMANDU: The Ministry of Health and Population has recorded 884 new cases of coronavirus in the last 24 hours. With this, the number of infected persons has reached 37,340 in Nepal.

The latest result came after the PCR tests carried out on 11,516 persons, said Spokesperson Dr. Jageshwor Gautam at the press conference on Saturday afternoon. A total of 669,626 people have undergone PRC tests in Nepal.

Among the new cases, 642 are male and 242 female.

According to Dr. Gautam, one person from Ilam, 20 from Jhapa, 19 from Dhankuta, 31 from Morang, three from Sankhuwasabha and 24 from Sunsari in Province 1 have been confirmed to have the coronavirus.

Similarly, 49 people from Dhanusha, 73 people from Parsa, 21 people from Bara, 26 people from Mahottari, five people from Rautahat, 2 people from Saptari, 82 people from Sarlahi and 22 people from Siraha in Province 2 have contracted the coronavirus.

As many as 155 people from Kathmandu, 19 from Kavre, 57 from Chitwan, one from Dolakha, nine from Dhading, 12 from Bhaktapur, 19 from Lalitpur, nine from Makwanpur and one from Sindhupalchowk in Bagmati Province have tested coronavirus positive.

Likewise, the infection has been confirmed in three persons from Kaski, 23 persons from Nawalparasi East and 29 persons from Lamjung in Gandaki Province.

Two people from Kapilvastu, one from Gulmi, 19 from Dang, 10 from Nawalparasi, 20 from Banke and 16 from Rupandehi have been confirmed to have the infection.

Dr. Gautam said that one person from Jajarkot, one person from Jumla, one person from Dailekh, one person from Rukum West and 10 people from Surkhet in Karnali Province have been diagnosed coronavirus positive.

The infection has been confirmed in 19 people of Kanchanpur, 19 people of Kailali, three people of Darchula, 26 people of Bajhang and 21 people of Baitadi in Sudurpaschim Province, he said.

Similarly, 20,555 persons have recovered so far. In the last 24 hours, 313 were recorded to be free from the virus.

There are 16,578 active cases of coronavirus. Among them, 6,445 are in home isolation and 10,145 in institutional isolation.

Currently, 175 persons are undergoing treatment at the ICU ward while 22 are on ventilator support.

The Ministry recorded 12 deaths caused by the coronavirus in the last 24 hours. With this, the number of those losing battle against COVID-19 reached 207 in the country.
