NEW DELHI: Five Rafale fighter jets that took off from France on Monday are landing at the Ambala air base in India today afternoon.
Indian Air Force (IAF) Chief Air Marshal RKS Bhadauria will receive the fighter jets. Security has been tightened near the Ambala air base, Indian media reports have said.
The government has imposed prohibitory orders under Section 144 around the Ambala Air Force Station with a ban on photography and videography.
The authorities have also banned gatherings of four or more people.
People have been asked to not fly drones near the air base or shoot photos and videos.
India had on September 23, 2016 sealed the IRs 59,000-crore deal to procure 36 Rafale jets from French aerospace major Dassault Aviation.
The aircraft is capable of carrying a range of potent weapons.
