Govt ups budget to bolster border security, defense

KATHMANDU: The government has increased the budget for the Ministry of Home Affairs and the Ministry of Defense to bolster the internal and border security.

The annual budget has been increased to modernize security bodies, maintain border security,  disaster management and extend military strength.

The government has allocated Rs 135 billion, 898 million and 300,000 thousand for the Home Ministry and its subordinate offices for the next fiscal year.

The budget allocated for the current fiscal year is Rs 10 billion 5681 million,900,000 thusand for the current fiscal year.

Similarly, Rs 50 billion 258 million,600,000 thousand has been allocated for the Ministry of Defense. The budget allocated for the current fiscal year is Rs 48 billion,243 million,700,000 thousand.
