NEA to provide 20 percent discount to 3.8 million domestic consumers

The Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) will be providing a 20 percent discount on electricity tariff for some 3.8 million domestic consumers.

The power authority will be providing a discount of up to 150 units in the bill for the Nepali month of Chaitra (March-April).

A meeting of NEA Board of Directors held under the Chairmanship of Minister for Energy, Water Resource and Irrigation Barshaman Pun on Friday decided to propose it before the Cabinet for discount.

COVID-19 impact: Agro-products losing market

Agricultural products have become the first victim of the lockdown imposed by the government of Nepal due to the fear of coronavirus spread.

With the decline in the movement in the marketplace, the milk and other dairy products, eggs, meat, and flowers are losing the market.

Kathmandu is the biggest market for agricultural products in the country. More than 900 thousand people have left Kathmandu valley after the corona outbreak.

COVID-19 has terrifically impacted Dairy Development Corporation, Nepal Dairy Association, Nepal Dairy Industry, Nepal Floriculture Association, poultry farmers have experienced the bad days. The sector has already witnessed a market decline of 30%.

NOC to distribute half-filled cylinder gas

The Nepal Oil Corporation (NOC) has started distributing half-filled cylinder gas to the consumers because of the shortage of cooking gas in the market.

The NOC is distributing cooking gas weighing 7.1 kg to the consumers at Rs 687.50 in different places including Kathmandu Valley.

However, the price of the half-filled cylinder gas has been fixed Rs 677.50 in Tarai area, while Rs 670 in Dang, Banke, Bardiya, Kailali and Kanchanpur districts.

With the decision of the government to supply half-filled cylinders, they have already started to send such cylinders in the market, said Chairperson of LP Gas Industries Association, Gokul Bhandari.

He said the half-filled cylinder gas would be distributed in the presence of officials from the local administration.
