State-1 to be tobacco products-free state by April 11

BIRATNAGAR: The Ministry of Social Development of State-1 government has launched a campaign to control tobacco-related products in the province.

Chief Minister Sherdhan Rai on Tuesday inaugurated the campaign by reading a slogan — “Let’s choose a healthy life, not tobacco products.”

The Ministry said that the sale and use of tobacco products would be completely controlled in the state by April 11.

The government has banned the sale of tobacco-related products 100 meters around the government offices.

This rule would be enforced at educational institutions, hospitals and public areas inside Biratnagar metropolitan city within February 12, according to Mayor Bhim Parajuli.

The decision to this effect has been made as per the Provisions of Tobacco Products (Control and Regulation) Act-2068 BS.
