PM Oli tables proposal at NCP Secretariat meeting (with full text)

Meeting to convene again on Tuesday

KATHMANDU: Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli, who is also the Chairman of the ruling Nepal Communist Party (NCP), has tabled a written proposal at the Secretariat meeting of the party held on Saturday.

NCP Spokesperson Narayankaji Shrestha said that the next meeting will be held at the party’s headquarters in Dhumbarahi on Tuesday.

Spokesperson Shrestha also said that the proposal submitted by Prime Minister Oli has been distributed to all secretariat members for study.

“The proposals of both the chairpersons will be discussed at the next secretariat meeting,” Shrestha said after the meeting.

In the response, PM Oli has termed the proposal by Prachanda as frustration and an artificial allegation.

In the written reply submitted by Oli, it has been mentioned that the presentation style, language style, and content of the ‘proposal’ distributed by Prachanda has caused a serious crisis in the party.

In today’s meeting, Oli, Prachanda, Vice-Chairman, and senior leaders expressed the view that party unity should be strengthened and disputed issues should be resolved through discussion and debate, Shrestha said.

Earlier, at the Secretariat meeting held on November 13, PM Oli had put forth his views by refuting the proposal and accusations leveled on him by Executive Chairman of the party Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda.’

In the November 18 meeting of the party secretariat, PM Oli had sought 10 days’ time to furnish a response to Prachanda’s accusation to him.

The meeting was held today was taken as a significant event at a time when the exchange of accusations and their release to the public have created suspicion on party unification.

In the previous meeting, PM Oli had maintained that if the accusations leveled at him were not justified, the accusers would take responsibility.

Oli in today’s meeting has responded to the 19-page long proposal submitted by Prachanda accusing Oli of corruption, nepotism, dictatorship, etc., in a political proposal and has also urged him to resign.

Earlier, in a meeting with Standing Committee members Haribol Gajurel and Top Bahadur Rayamajhi, Prachanda said that disputes within the party would resolve or escalate further depending on Oli’s proposal.

In recent months, the ruling NCP has witnessed intra-party dispute over the appointment of ambassadors, Cabinet reshuffle, a dispute in Karnali Province, vendetta among party cadres in Tarai districts, RAW Chief’s meeting with PM Oli.
