KATHMANDU: Minister for Education and Sports, Sasmit Pokharel, has directed the newly appointed officials of the Teachers Service Commission to ensure that the TSC operates with effectiveness and a focus on measurable outcomes.
During a meeting with newly appointed office-bearers, including Dr Hari Prasad Lamsal, Chair of the Commission, held at the Ministry in Singhdarbar today, the Minister emphasized the importance of updating laws and regulations governing teacher recruitment, advancement, curriculum development, and the Commission’s operations in a timely manner.
The Minister prioritized addressing teacher shortages in educational institutions, enhancing examination procedures, and ensuring prompt dissemination of examination outcomes. He noted that the School Education Act is currently being drafted and expressed confidence that provisions concerning the Teachers Service Commission will be incorporated into the forthcoming legislation.
Following a recent Cabinet decision, Dr Lamsal from Bhaktapur was appointed as Commission Chair while Ram Sharan Sapkota from Makwanpur and Bishnu Ghimire Rimal from Kathmandu were appointed as members.
Dr. Lamsal, the Commission’s Chair, stated that initiatives to establish the Commission as a dynamic and results-focused institution have already commenced. (RSS)
