Eight face action for trying to bribe traffic police



KATHMANDU: Drivers and helpers have faced action for their attempts to entice traffic police with bribe money in the Kathmandu Valley.

They made this attempt in relation to fines for breaching traffic rules during Dashain festival.

They tried to bribe traffic police with Rs 500 to Rs 3,000 for violating traffic rules. Eight drivers and helpers—Ram Prasad Chaudhary, Dipak Bahadur Kumal, Avinandan Kafle, Bikram Tamang, Prem Bahadur Tamang, Khadga Bahadur Sunuwar, Avik Acharya and Abin Shahi–have faced action, said the Metropolitan Traffic Police Division.

The traffic police who denied any bribe were rewarded, said Senior Superintendent of Police Bhim Prasad Dhakal.

Earlier 73 traffic police were awarded for denying bribe, he said.
