Govt says COVID-19 risks in Nepal still unpredictable

KATHMANDU: The government has said that the risk of the coronavirus in Nepal is still unpredictable.

Pradeep Gyawali, Spokesperson and Minister for Foreign Affairs said that the coronavirus cases are increasing and it is unpredictable how long the risk will last.

“COVID-19 cases are on the rise in Nepal. The situation is still unpredictable,” Minister Gyawali added.

Minister Gyawali said the government had opened up many areas amid the risk of the virus to maintain a balance between life and livelihood.

“Everyone needs to exhibit a high level of vigilance, support and cooperation at this time,” he urged.

He said that one should be more vigilant during the festival.

“The festive season is at our door. I want to urge you to follow the advice of experts and not to disobey health protocols”, he said.

Meanwhile, the government has urged house owners and some industries in Kathmandu not to force tenants and workers to submit PCR negative reports.

“Forcing to undergo tests against the protocols is not appropriate,” asserted Minister Gyawali.
