1,633 security officials test positive for COVID-19



KATHMANDU: With the surge in coronavirus cases globally, the pandemic has not spared security agencies in Nepal, too.

According to the latest updates provided  by the Ministry of Health and Population,  as many as 1,633 security personnel (from Nepal Army, Nepal Police and Armed Police Force) have been infected with the coronavirus.

Of them, 861 have returned home after recovery.

Until the last week of May,  only 12 security personnele had been infected with the virus.

The number has alsmost doubled in the period  of three months.

According to SSP Kuber Kadayat, the spokesperson for the Nepal Police, 795 Nepal Police officials have tested positive for coronavirus so far across the country.

Over 500 have returned home after recovery.
