Deuba inducts Sunil Thapa into NC

KATHMANDU: Former Minister Sunil Thapa has entered Nepali Congress (NC) on Tuesday.

During a function organized at NC Headquarters in Sanepa, NC President Sher Bahadur Deuba inducted 22 persons including Thapa into the party.

Along with Thapa, 11 central leaders of the Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) have entered the main opposition.

It is learned that Thapa will be appointed Joint General Secretary of the party.

A total of 31 RPP leaders had resigned en masse on Saturday. In an open letter to three Chairmen—Kamal Thapa, Pashupati Shumsher Rana and Prakash Chandra Lohani—the leaders had announced their resignations.

They have mentioned in the resignation letter that the party has failed to move ahead as per the people’s mandate even they drew the attention of the party time and again.

The Thapa faction had alleged that inclusiveness in the formation of various bodies, including the post-unity secretariat working committee, has been completely ignored.
