Monsoon becomes active again, rainfall likely for three days

KATHMANDU: Rainfall is taking place in most places of the country with the monsoon becoming active again.

Meteorologist Raju Pradhananga said the rainfall is occurring as the low pressure system is positioned close to the Tarai region of the country since Monday night.

The weather will be cloudy throughout the country in the next three days with chances of light to moderate rain in most parts and of heavy rain in some places, the Meteorological Forecasting Division said.

Meteorologists say the risk of flood, inundation and landslide even by light to moderate rainfall has increased as the land has become fragile with rainfall taking place from mid-May till now this year.

The Division has urged one and all to observe precaution as the water level in the rivers will increase, soil erosion and landslide will take place and inundation occur in places with poor drainage system, and the road and air transport would be affected with the activeness of the monsoon.

As per the latest information shared by the Division, the minimum temperature in Kathmandu Valley was 21.5 degrees Celsius and the maximum temperature 29.4 degrees Celsius in the last 24 hours.

Jumla recorded the lowest temperature at 17.2 degrees Celsius while Dhangadhi recorded the maximum temperature at 33.4 degrees Celsius throughout the country in the last 24 hours, according to the Division.
