Landslide claims two in Rukum West



RUKUM WEST: Two persons were killed when landslide swept away a house at Banphikot rural municipality-9 in Rukum (West) district this morning.

The deceased have been identified as 22-year-old Nabin BK, son of Jasbir Kami, and 16-year-old Bal Bahadur Sunar, son of Hasta Bahadur Sunar, said Police.

Deputy Superintendent of Police at the District Police Office, Thag Bahadur KC, said that the bodies of Nabin and Bal Bahadur have been found while four others– Jhupi Kami, 60, wife of Jasbir, daughter-in-law Byujhana Kami, and a five-year-old and three -year-old grand-daughters – have been rescued.

The landslide took place early this morning following incessant rainfall from Monday night had swept away the house some 150 meters down close to Kimana rivulet.

Locals had rescued the four persons, who were sleeping in the first floor of the house, alive, while the landslide swept away Nabin and Bal Bahadur who had been sleeping in the ground floor.

Jhupi is receiving treatment at a local health facility, Chhinkhet.
