RPP supports constitution amendment proposal

KATHMANDU: The Rastriya Prajantra Party (RPP) has decided to extend its support to the government’s proposal for Constitution amendment.

A meeting of the party attended by its Chairpersons Pashupati Shumsher Rana, Kamal Thapa, and Dr Prakash Chandra Lohani decided to support the government in Constitution amendment.

The bill related to constitution amendment to change the coat of arms of Nepal has been presented in the federal parliament following the issuance of new political and administrative map of the country.

The newly issued map includes Kalapani, Lipulekh and Limpiyadhura as Nepal’s territories.

The new map must be upgraded in the coat of arms and the Schedule of the Constitution for which the national charter must be revised.

RPP had drawn the attention of the government to revise the map of Nepal after the government of India had issued its new political map including Nepali territories in Darchula district such as Lipulek, Limpiyadhura and Kalapani as its territories.

The party had also protested India’s unilateral act of India by building a link road leading up to Mansarovar, encroaching upon Nepal’s territories.
