COVID-19 suspected woman’s dead body disposed in jungle

SAPTARI: A woman who was self-quarantined at her house in Kanchanpur Rural Municipality-11 of Saptari district after developing symptoms related to COVID-19 and died on Tuesday has been disposed in a safer way in a nearby jungle.

According to the Area Police Office, Kanchanpur’s DSP Makendra Kumar Mishra, the body of the woman was taken to a jungle situated nearby Sundari Khola, a local river, at Kanchanpur and was disposed in the attendance of the deceased’s family members, observing all necessary precautions against the infection.

The woman who was 18-weeks pregnant had developed fever and cough and respiratory complication for 10 days. Although suspected to have contracted COVID-19, the cause of her death has not been known yet, informed DSP Mishra.

According to the procedure formulated by the Ministry of Health and Population regarding the management of dead bodies of the COVID-19 suspected or infected persons, the dead body of the COVID-19 suspected or infected persons should be disposed at the earliest and in the nearest place to prevent further spread.

The deceased woman’s nasal swab was collected and sent to Dharan-based to be BPKIHS, shared Mayor Basanta Mishra. The report is due in some two to three days. Those coming in close contact with the deceased woman will be quarantined, according to Mishra.

A mother two five-year-old twin children, the deceased woman had also suffering from urine infection, her family member said.
