NCP leaders meeting to thrash out differences

KATHMANDU: After a one-on-one meeting held between Prime Minister KP Oli and Nepal Communist Party (NCP) senior leader Madhav Kumar Nepal, leaders of both the factions are holding a meeting at the latter’s residence in Koteswor on Monday.

The meeting is aimed at thrashing out differences between the two sides. Earlier on Sunday evening, a section of the party’s disgruntled leaders, including NCP Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal, senior leader Nepal, among others had decided to ‘seek’ PM Oli’s alternative.

However, the one-on-one meeting between PM Oli and senior leader Nepal held earlier on Monday decided to move ahead by thrashing out the differences between the two sides.

PM Oli is learned to have assured leader Nepal of moving ahead on the basis of consensus now on.

Meanwhile, PM Oli is under pressure to convene the meeting of the party’s Standing Committee at the earliest to discuss and address the current intra-party wrangling.

“Today’s meeting at Koteswor will decide the next move,” a party leader said.

It has also been learned that PM Oli might also consider quitting the post of the  party Chairman.

While Bishnu Poudel, Ishwor Pokhrel, Shankar Pokharel and Pradeep Gyawali have represented PM Oli faction, Bhim Rawal, Raghuji Panta and Surendra Pandey are representing leader Nepal in the meeting.
