Six arrested with 2.5 kg smuggled gold in Rasuwa



RASUWA: Police have confiscated 2.5 kilograms of gold being smuggled into the country.

The yellow metal worth Rs 16 million was being illegally brought into the country from the Rasugadhi transit point.

According to Chief District Officer Arjun Bhandari, the gold was found hidden in a jeep (Na. 1 Ja. 3542) by a police team from the Border Police Post in Timure. The search was made acting on a tip-off.

Of the 2.5 kg, the driver of the jeep had tied one kilogram to his waist while 1.5 kg was hidden below the driver’s seat.

The jeep driver Tula Narayan Shrestha, and five other occupants of the jeep have been arrested, according to police post chief Indra Prasad Subedi. Further investigation is underway.
