Demonstrators protesting against Chinese intervention arrested in Kathmandu

KATHMANDU: Police have arrested protesters involved in the National Unity Campaign against Chinese intervention in Nepal from Bhatbhateni in Kathmandu.

Police said as many as two dozen protestors, including campaign coordinator Binay Yadav were arrested at around 5 pm today.

Coordinator Yadav and his supporters have been protesting the Chinese intervention in Nepal’s internal affairs.

They have also been raising their voice against what they have been saying “blatant” intervention in Nepal’s internal politics, encroachment of Nepali land and putting crooked eyes on Mount Everest.

Protesters chanted slogans such as “Stop Chinese interference; Do not interfere in Nepal’s politics; Return Nepal’s land,” among others.

It should be noted that China has been interfering in Nepal’s internal matters of late with Chinese Ambassador to Nepal Hou Yanqi making frantic moves to avert split of the Nepal Communist Party.
