No alternative to going for fresh mandate: Minister Rayamajhi

KATHMANDU: Minister for Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation Top Bahadur Rayamajhi on Saturday said there was no alternative but to go for elections to get a fresh mandate reasoning that there has been an internal feud within the ruling Nepal Communist Party.

He suggested that both sides of the party should come together for nation-building. He was speaking at a gathering in Lalitpur constituency 1. This is a time of development and prosperity, he noted.

“We together initiated a party unity. Let’s move to end the internal feud. We will still be with you. If there is a denial of our proposal, there is no alternative to go for a fresh mandate,” he said pointing at the Prachanda-Nepal group.

It was ridiculous for the leaders who did big contributions to national politics to indulge in power games instead of bringing and implementing plans and programs for the development of the country, Minister Rayamajhi said.

He claimed that the dissolution of the House of Representatives took place to be safe from destroying the two-thirds majority government by bringing a no-confidence motion.

“This move of parliament dissolution was appropriate when lawmakers and leaders of the ruling party tried to topple the incumbent government,” he said.
