Speaker calls for making Federal Parliament, Provincial Assembly people-oriented



KATHMANDU: Speaker of the House of Representatives Agni Prasad Sapkota today stressed the need for making the Federal Parliament and Provincial Assembly lively and people-oriented.

The Parliament would be successful when people’s sentiments are accommodated in making rules and regulations, he viewed at an interaction and program to exchange experiences to operate the Federal Parliament and Provincial Assembly organized here by the Federal Parliament Secretariat.

People’s aspirations would be addressed through the implementation of the Constitution accommodating people’s fundamental rights and norms and values of democracy, he said.

In another context, he underscored the need for training and good practice of democracy among political parties.
On the occasion, saying that the Federal Parliament was mindful of the situation wherein complaints would surface that province and local level could not function as the federal did not make laws, Chairperson of the National Assembly Ganesh Prasad Timilsina urged the government to act in this regard.

He viewed that there is a need for a role of all federal, province and local level to implement fundamental rights guaranteed by the Constitution and socialism-oriented political goals.
