Appeal to resume long route public transport

KATHMANDU: A joint task force comprising Nepal Transport Entrepreneurs Association and Transport Workers’ Association has urged the government to create a viable environment to resume long route public transport service.

Issuing a press release today, the task force has urged the government to facilitate the resumption of transport service by adopting the health and safety protocol.

Passengers are facing trouble while traveling due to the latest decision of allowing only public transport services within a district.

It further reads that short route, middle route and long route public transport could be resumed following the Public Transport Management Act 2049 BS.

Transport entrepreneurs association general secretary Saroj Sitaula argued that the transport entrepreneurs should be given permission to resume the public transport as private vehicle operations were carrying passengers charging a high fare.

The task force was formed comprising entrepreneurs and transport workers organization to suggest the government to resume the public transport adopting safety measures, as the sector remains halted for about four months due to COVID-19 outbreak in the country. RSS
