No COVID-19 community transmission yet: Health Ministry

KATHMANDU: Although scores of people in Kathmandu Valley and districts of Terai with no travel history have tested positive for coronavirus, the Ministry of Health and Population has claimed that Nepal has not witnessed community transmission yet.

During the regular briefing of the ministry on Monday afternoon, Spokesperson Dr. Jageshwor Gautam said that the World Health Organization (WHO) has placed Nepal on the list of countries with COVID-19 cases at certain places.

He said that further investigations are being carried out at the local level, reminding all that it was important for everyone to be vigilant to prevent further spread of the coronavirus.

“With the end of the lockdown, crowds can be seen in the streets and marketplaces. The number of people using public transport is also increasing. As the risk of coronavirus infection remains high, our lifestyle has not yet returned to normal.”
