Nepal’s COVID-19 death toll hits 48

KATHMANDU: Nepal reported three new deaths from coronavirus in the past 24 hours that took the death toll from the pandemic to 48, Nepal’s Ministry of Health and Population.

Speaking at the regular press briefing on Monday afternoon, Spokesperson Dr. Jageshwor Gautam said that one death has been reported in Parsa, one in Bara and one in Dhanusha district.

An Indian national currently living in Birgunj in Parsa district died in course of treatment in Gandak Hospital on Sunday, Spokesperson Dr. Gautam said.

The 65-year-old man was also suffering from heart-related ailments and diabetes.

Likewise, a 36-year-old man of Shahidnagar Municipality-8, Dumariya succumbed to the coronavirus.

He died while being taken to BP Koirala Institute of Health Sciences yesterday.

He was admitted to ICU of Provincial Hospital, Janakpur on Saturday and was referred to BP Koirala Institute of Health Sciences, Dharan after his condition got worse.

Similarly, a 60-year-old man from Phenta Rural Municipality in Bara died in course of treatment at the Kathmandu-based Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital on Monday, according to Spokesperson Dr. Gautam.

He was diagnosed with pneumonia, stroke and kidney-related ailments.
