139 new cases in past 24 hrs, Nepal’s COVID-19 count reaches 18,752



KATHMANDU: Nepal has confirmed 139 new cases of coronavirus in the past 24 hours.

According to the Ministry of Health and Population, with the addition of the cases, total cases in Nepal have reached 18,752 as of Monday afternoon.

Speaking at a regular press briefing, Spokesperson at the Ministry, Dr. Jageshwor Gautam said 4,818 samples have been tested through PCR in the past 24 hours.

According to Dr. Gautam, 21 people from Saptari and one from Siraha tested positive at Gajendra Narayan Singh Hospital, Rajbiraj, tests conducted at the Provincial Public Health Laboratory, Janakpur, showed 10 people from Dhanusha infected and tests at Narayani Hospital, Birgunj, confirmed 18 people from Parsa to have contracted coronavirus.

In a laboratory test at Dhulikhel Hospital, a man from Kavre tested positive, three from Lalitpur and two from Parsa at Patan Hospital.

Similarly, a person from Kathmandu tested positive at the TU Teaching Hospital, Maharajgunj and tests conducted at Star Hospital Lalitpur have confirmed the infection in two persons from Kathmandu.

Similarly, in a test conducted at Pokhara Institute of Health Sciences, three people from Kaski were confirmed infected, one from Banke in tests at Bheri Hospital and tests conducted at Lumbini Provincial Hospital has confirmed coronavirus infection in one person from Rupandehi.

Likewise, a man from Surkhet tested positive at State Hospital in Surkhet, 28 people from Dailekh in tests at Dailekh Laboratory, two from Salyan in a test conducted at the PCR laboratory of Chaurjahari Municipality and laboratory tests conducted at Dadeldhura Hospital have confirmed the infection in four people from Baitadi.

Meanwhile, 626 COVID-19 patients have been discharged from hospitals and isolation centers after recovery. A total of 13,754 have recovered across the country so far.

A total of 789 people have returned home after recovery in Province 1, 2,972 in Province-2, 517 in Bagmati Province, 1,204 in Gandaki Province, 3,910 in Province 5, 1,608 in Karnali Province and 2,754 in Sudurpaschim Province so far, he shared.

There are 195 active cases of coronavirus in Province-1, 1,911 in Province-2, 402 in Bagmati Province, 244 in Gandaki Province, 353 in Province-5, 375 in Karnali Province and 1,740 in Sudurpaschim Province, according to the Ministry.

At present, 4,950 people are in isolation and 16,379 are in quarantines.

Nepal reported three new deaths in the past 24 hours that took the death toll to 48, Spokesperson Dr. Gautam said.
