Pregnant woman from Dolakha airlifted to Kathmandu for treatment



DOLAKHA: A seven-month pregnant woman of Dolakha district has been airlifted to Kathmandu for treatment after excessive bleeding.

Pasang Thili Sherpa of Jhyaku at Gauri Shankar rural municipality-4 was initially admitted to a local primary health center on Friday after excessive bleeding. Sherpa was airlifted on Saturday afternoon and now is receiving care at Paropakar Maternity and Women’s Hospital in Thapathali in Kathmandu, it has been said.

Sherpa had been bleeding for the past six months and was referred to Kathmandu as a result, said Dr. Arun Upreti of the health center.

Following recommendations for the rescue of the woman, Chief District Officer Bhimkanta Sharma informed Minister for Women, Children and Senior Citizen Parbat Gurung and the minister arranged for the rescue.

Pregnant women and new mothers from remote areas were being rescued for free under the President’s Women Upliftment Programme under the Ministry.

Altogether 20 pregnant women were rescued from across the country so far during the lockdown, said Anju Dhungana, chief of the program coordination unit.
