KATHMANDU: The Ministry of Health and Population has clarified that the ‘Virus Removing Card’ will not prevent contracting coronavirus.

Speaking at a regular press briefing on Saturday afternoon, Spokesperson Dr. Jageshwor Gautam urged not to get confused saying that it is not scientifically proven that such cards prevent coronavirus.

“Recently, the Ministry of Health and Population has taken serious note of the rumors that a virus removing card has been discovered and the illusion that hanging it around the neck does prevent from coronavirus,” he said, “No such card has been found so far. If there was such a method, there would not be so many difficulties in the world today. ”

He said the ‘coronavirus removing cards’ were being imported, marketed and advertised, adding that the government had not approved the cards.

Spokesperson Dr. Gautam said that the chemicals in the card can affect the heart, lungs, liver and other organs and have a serious effect on health.

The issue came to limelight after former Prime Minister Madhav Kumar Nepal distributed such cards to the Standing Committee members at the Standing Committee meeting of the ruling Nepal Communist Party.
