Locusts spotted in Butwal as well



KATHMANDU: Locusts have been spotted in the area around Butwal on Saturday afternoon.

Locals had informed the entomologists and scientists of Nepal Agricultural Research Council (NARC) after being found locusts in Goal Park, Sukhkhanagar and Sivanagar areas.

Entomologist Deepak Khanal said that the insect that was found in Butwal confirmed to be locust.

Narayan Khatri, a scientist at NARC said the locusts had entered Nepal, adding that they could attack less this season.

He said that now it is seen in the forest area and even if we could control on time, the damage will be reduced now.
He said that even though the area is less in the rainy season now, it should be controlled with high vigilance.

According to Yam Narayan Devkota, chief of the Agriculture Development Directorate of Province 5, locusts have been found and an investigation is underway to control it.

The locals of Sukhnagar area had informed the scientist after locusts had been kept in the container.
