NHRC urges govt to ensure smooth supply of daily essentials

KATHMANDU: The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) has asked the government to ensure smooth supply of daily essentials during lockdown imposed by the government in a bid to control the coronavirus spread.

Issuing a statement on Thursday – the third day of the week-long lockdown – the constitutional human rights watchdog said the government needs to provide essentials to the people, including those with disabilities, women, children, senior citizens, and the disadvantaged groups.

It has also asked the government to ensure the safety of the health workers, security personnel, and government employees, among others, who are doing their duties during this difficult hour.
