SC orders not to arrest Sudhir Basnet

KATHMANDU: The Supreme Court (SC) has issued an interim order not to immediately arrest businessman Sudhir Basnet on charges of banking frauds.

The court has issued an interim order stating that it is not appropriate in principle to prosecute different cases for the same offense while the issue of recovery of loan against Basnet is also under consideration.

A single bench of Justice Purushottam Bhandari directed not to arrest Basnet immediately.

It is mentioned in the order that a person cannot be tried and punished in different courts for the same offense.
