The holiday was announced in consideration of the Danuwar community living in the municipality, for whom the festival is a major one.

The municipality has a significant population of Danuwar community and hence we have been observing the day as a public holiday every year, said Mayor Ghanashyam Raut.

The celebration this year however will be confined into people’s home due to the Coronavirus.

Considering the government directives, we will be observing this year’s Baraki Ekadashi festival by following the health protocol of the government, said Danuwar Jagaran Committee Sindhuli Chair Narayan Danuwar.
