Chitwan reports new 44 coronavirus cases including two minors



KATHMANDU: As many as 44 people including two minors and a septuagenarian have been infected with coronavirus in Chitwan district.

The new cases were confirmed during PCR tests carried out at the laboratory of Bharatpur Hospital on Tuesday night.

Similarly, four staffers including a doctor have tested positive for coronavirus at Bharatpur Cancer Hospital.

According to Dr Nitu Adhikari, chief of the hospital, 40 among those infected are from Chitwan while the remaining four are from Nawalpur Rupandehi, Tanahun and Dhanusha.

New 36 cases are from Bharatpur Metropolitan City.

Their swab samples had been collected from swab collection center of Bharatpur Hospital, BP Koirala Memorial Cancer Hospital and Old Medical College.

Likewise, three people from Ratnanagar municipality-3 and one from Khairahani-1 have also tested positive for COVID-19.

With the surge in the infection cases among the doctors and patients, the hospitals have now started screening patients for COVID-19 prior to their admission.

As many as 218 swab samples had been tested for coronavirus on Tuesday.

With this, the number of confirmed coronavirus cases has crossed 400-mark in Chitwan.
