Two missing after landslide buries tractor, tipper

BAGLUNG: Two people have gone missing after a tipper, an excavator and tractor were buried in a landslide near Niyarghat of Baglung municipality-1.

The incident took place last night at around 8:00 pm, when landslides buried the tractor (Dha.1Cha.47), tipper (Ga.1Kha.4637) and excavator, said police inspector at the District Police Office, Dipak Rijal.

The tipper driver Nirmal Pun and tractor driver Roshan Nepali have gone missing, while the excavator driver has come into contact. The drivers were involved in clearing the debris of a landslide that had already occurred at the same place when another landslide buried them.

Security personnel including Nepal Army, Nepal Police and Armed Police Force were mobilized at the site for the rescue operation. However, it had not been possible due to continuous landslip and difficult terrain.

The drivers are feared to have been buried in the landslide, as they are out of contact for a long time, said the ward member Surya Lamichhane. The excavator is owned by local Bimalesh Acharya and the tipper by Hari Ghimire of Parbat.
