July 6 and 7 chosen for National Vitamin ‘A’  program



KATHMANDU: The government has rescheduled the national Vitamin ‘A’ program formerly postponed due to the COVID-19 crisis for July 6 and 7.

The Ministry of Health and Population has set July 6 and 7 as the day for national Vitamin ‘A’ program.

Earlier, the programme mentioned in the regular calendar of the Ministry for April 18 and 19.

Department of Health Services, Nutrition Section Chief Kedar Parajuli confirmed that the new schedule.

The program includes administration of de-worming tablets and Balvita, a micronutrient supplement for children and each takes place twice in a year.

The  program is meant to reduce the risk of deficiency of Vitamin A among children and other subsequent health consequences. It covers children from six to 59 months.
