Ready to face no-confidence motion: Bagmati CM Poudel



HETAUDA: Bagmati Chief Minister Dormani Poudel has claimed that the no-confidence motion registered against him will be rejected.

Nepal Communist Party (NCP) Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal Prachanda and Madhav Nepal faction on Friday filed the motion against Poudel in the Province Assembly.

They have accused Chief Minister Poudel of making the decision unilaterally and not following the party’s advice.

Poudel has even challenged the majority to approve the proposal registered against him.

Poudel claims that there was prior information that a no-confidence motion will be filed against him as soon as the equation of the center is changed.

He said he was ready to face the no-confidence motion.

As many as 45 lawmakers of the ruling Nepal Communist Party (NCP) have filed the no-confidence motion at the secretariat of the Province Assembly against Poudel on Friday.

THE ruling NCP has 80 lawmakers in the 110-member Province Assembly of Bagmati Province. Of them, the Prachanda-Dahal faction has 46 lawmakers while the Oli faction has 34 lawmakers.

The post of Chief Minister Poudel has been shaky after the party has been politically divided.

Similarly, three ministers of the province government have resigned from their posts.

Three ministers, including Minister for Internal Affairs Shalikram Jammakattel, Minister for Industry Arun Nepal, and Minister for Social Development Yubaraj Dulal have resigned from the posts.
