Land Management Ministry holds consultation on land bank



KATHMANDU: The Ministry of Land Management, Cooperatives and Poverty Alleviation has begun a consultation on the establishment of a land bank.

The concept of the land bank was incorporated in the policy and programs, and the budget the government brought for the current fiscal year.

During the consultative meeting today, Minister for Land Management, Cooperatives and Poverty Alleviation Padma Kumari Aryal said work plan on how the personal and government land could be utilized properly was being developed. She directed the employees to do homework on how a reliable structure could be set up for the establishment of a land bank.

The Ministry has informed that 300 local levels are preparing a work plan for the first round. The budget had incorporated the provision that land bank could be set up with government land, riverbank and guthi lands.
Similarly, it has aimed at land productivity. Even the Land Use Act has mentioned the land bank. The Ministry has been searching the land for the land bank in the Kathmandu Valley and outside the valley.
