All new infections in far-west from Baitadi



BAITADI: The number of people infected with the coronavirus has reached 14 in the Far-West province. Of them, five have already recovered while nine are undergoing treatment in various hospitals.

Four new infections were confirmed on Saturday while five had been detected on Friday, according to Seti State hospital. Those confirmed on Saturday are from Baitadi and all from Shivanath rural municipality. They had returned from India via the Gauriphanta transit on May 21.

The first infection was confirmed in the Far-West province on March 27 in a 34-year-old youth of Dhangadi sub-metropolis. Meanwhile, the swab collection of those who came into contact with the infected is underway.

A 22-year-old youth in police custody on the charge of murder was confirmed positive on Friday.

As a result, the people who came in contact with him including 22 police personnel, one district administration office staff, 12 district court officials and a doctor at the district hospital have provided their swab for testing.
