Sri Lanka evacuates 76 students from Nepal



KATHMANDU: Sri Lanka has evacuated its 76 citizens from Nepal on Friday.

A chartered flight of Sri Lankan Airlines that landed at Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) at around 12:30 pm took off for Colombo with the 76 students studying at the Pokhara-based Manipal Teaching Hospital.

The students had arrived from Pokhara this morning.

Meanwhile, the Embassy of Sri Lanka in Kathmandu has appreciated assistance from the government of Nepal for the evacuation flight.

“76 Sri Lankan students were evacuated on Sri Lankan Airlines today in close coordination with Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Sri Lanka. We deeply appreciate the ready assistance & speedy facilitation extended by Nepal Govt & respective educational authorities,” the Embassy said in a Facebook post.
