NC demands to probe murder of NCP cadre

KATHMANDU: The main opposition party Nepali Congress (NC) has demanded an investigation into the murder of Mukesh Chaurasiya, a cadre of the ruling Nepal Communist Party (NCP), Parsa.

The party has also drawn the attention of the Prime Minister and NCP Chairman KP Oli in the Parsa incident, questioning what kind of rule of law can be expected from a government that does not even accept a complaint against the murder.

NC Spokesperson Bishwa Prakash Sharma in a statement on Saturday demanded the government to investigate the incident and arrest the culprit immediately and take legal action saying that family members did not receive the body as the police refused to file a complaint even three days after the incident.

Stating that saving the lives of the citizens is the first duty of the state, NC has accused the situation of peace and security in the country of becoming fragile after the formation of the government.

Chaurasiya was killed in a clash between former UML and Maoist groups.
