KATHMANDU: The recovery rate of coronavirus infection is found to be decreasing gradually in Nepal.
The COVID-19 recovery rate is less by around 10 percent in Nepal as compared to the average of the world.
The coronavirus recovery rate is 58.3 percent in Nepal currently while it is 68.1 percent in the world.
As statistics made public by the Ministry of Health and Population, the coronavirus recovery rate is less by 9.8 percent in Nepal as compared to the world.
According to Joint-Spokesperson at the Ministry, Dr. Sameer Kumar Adhikari, though the coronavirus infection recovery rate is less as compared to the world, it is not the reality.
He said, “We have not been able to collect data from all places. The recovery rate is seen less due to problems in the collection of data of the recovered people every day though the number of people recovered from the coronavirus infection is high.”
Adhikari shared that the recovery rate would be seen high once the data is collected from all places.
More than 23.49 million people have been infected with coronavirus in the world, 15.935 million people have already returned home from after recovery. The recovery rate is 68.1 percent. A total of 809,986 people have lost their lives in the world so far. The mortality rate is 3.5 percent.
Thirty-one thousand nine hundred thirty-five people tested positive in course of carrying out a PCR test of 600,444 people in Nepal.
Of them, 18,631 have returned home after recovery which is 58.3 percent. A total of 149 people have lost their lives from coronavirus infection in Nepal till Sunday. A total of 11,414 people are in quarantine and 13,155 in isolation in Nepal.
Epidemiology and Disease Control Division, Ministry of Health, Director Dr. Basudev Pandey shared that the recovery rate was seen lower in Nepal in comparison to other countries due to a lack of proper statistics of the infected and recovery.
He said all infected are not admitted to hospitals as some of them were getting recovery living in self-isolation and their statistics were not received in the Ministry. Some 80 to 90 percent of infected persons have returned home after complete health recovery therefore this claim of lower recovery rate was not authentic.
The government now has issued lockdown order in most of the district as the infected ratio was seen rising with the end of nationwide lockdown last month. Kathmandu valley is witnessing possible threat of further pandemic as cases were rising of late.
According to statistics, the recovery rate was recorded 70.1 percent on the same date today one month ago and it has dropped by 10 percent as of late. RSS
