Nepal’s COVID-19 tally stands at 18,374 with 133 new cases

KATHMANDU: Nepal has reported 133 new coronavirus cases in the past 24 hours.

The Ministry of Health and Population stated that with the addition of the cases, Nepal’s tally has reached 18,374 as of Friday afternoon.

According to Dr. Gautam, tests conducted at BP Koirala Institute of Health Sciences, Dharan, confirmed the infection in one person from Dhankuta and one from Sunsari and six from Jhapa, one from Morang, seven from Saptari and one from Sunsari at Koshi Hospital, Biratnagar.

Similarly, 19 people from Jhapa, three from Sunsari and one from Morang were tested positive at the Provincial Public Health Laboratory in Biratnagar and one person from Bara, one from Sarlahi and 30 from Parsa were found infected in the tests conducted at Narayani Hospital.

Likewise, in a test conducted at the National Public Health Laboratory in Kathmandu, a person from Dhanusha was found infected and tests at Shukraraj Tropical and Infectious Diseases Hospital have confirmed coronavirus infection in five people from Kathmandu, one from Parsa and one from Sarlahi.

A man from Chitwan was confirmed to have contracted coronavirus in tests at Bharatpur Hospital and one from Chitwan, five from Kathmandu and one from Udayapur in tests at TU Teaching Hospital.

Similarly, in a test conducted at Pokhara Institute of Health Sciences, Pokhara, a person from Kaski was found infected and four people from Kaski, three from Lamjung, one from Baglung and one from Tanahun have been found infected in the tests conducted at the Provincial Tuberculosis Center, Pokhara.

In the last 24 hours, 3,987 samples have been tested through PCR, said Spokesperson Dr. Jageshwor Gautam.

Meanwhile, 107 COVID-19 patients have been discharged from different hospitals in the last 24 hours after recovering from the virus. With this, 12,947 have been discharged across the country so far.

At present, 5,383 people are in isolation and 19,444 are in quarantines across the country.

Nepal reported one new death in the past 24 hours that took the death toll to 44 Spokesperson Dr. Gautam said.
